About
DIG IT Projects are involved with local schools
helping them to grow their own fresh produce. These new innovative School & Community Projects based around “Garden Growing Spaces”. To allow children and adults to interact with the outdoors and to grow their own fresh vegetables and fruit using raised beds.
Why have these Growing Areas?
These “Allotment Style” gardens are based around individual raised beds used for growing FRUIT and VEGETABLES.
They encourage the children / community to interact with the outside space, help develop social and confidence skills as well as highlighting the “Healthy Eating Program”, also helps raise awareness in the cost and work involved in growing fresh locally grown produce. In turn enables the pupils to develop an understanding of the environment in which we share with the surrounding wildlife and insect life, and the ever changing weather cycle throughout the year, and what effects it has on growing fruit and vegetables. It also tackles other issues such as Obesity claims, healthier lifestyles, and brings families and communities closer together.
